Since its founding in 1999 under the joint patronage of the British Council and the British Embassy in Warsaw, the British Alumni Society has been a valued partner in our mission

Over the years, BAS has created a vibrant community of Polish graduates of British universities and promoted the best of British academic and civic traditions through initiatives such as public Oxford-style debates, the English-language Book Club, and a flagship scholarship programme that has already enabled more than 160 Polish students to study in British boarding schools and continue their education at leading universities around the world.

The Society’s work reflects the core values of the British Council — openness, intellectual curiosity, and international collaboration which builds trust across borders for and with the UK — and continues to play an important role in strengthening educational and cultural ties between our two countries.

We are proud to support the work of the British Alumni Society and look forward to continuing our close cooperation in promoting access to quality education and mutual understanding between Poland and the United Kingdom.

Rachel Launay

„The British Alumni Society (BAS) has been operating in association with the British Embassy in Warsaw since 1999. Its founding mission was to bring together recipients of UK education in Poland, creating a community that could foster lasting relationships between our two countries.

Since its inception, BAS has contributed to strengthening ties between the UK’s and Poland’s civil societies. The BAS’s scholarship programme, which has been running since 2010 enables talented Polish students to access world-class education in the UK, creating lifelong ambassadors of British culture and values.

In addition, BAS’s book clubs, debates, and political discussion groups have been invaluable forums for promoting intellectual exchange, as well as providing great opportunities to network and establish new contacts. We continue to work with the British Alumni Society, and I encourage all Polish alumni of UK universities to become members and be a part of this inspirational bilateral community.”
