This year marked a difference to our usual routine. Hot political season prevented the British Embassy from extending their usual hospitality to our Scholars’ Tea. Therefore this year’s celebration took place at the seat of Warsaw Musical Society in Pałac Szustra, and Mr Robin Barnett was represented by David Wallace, the First Secretary at the Embassy.
The festive character of our Tea (fifth, therefore somewhat special) was in no way diminished though. The beautiful surroundings, the concert quality piano, the sheer number of scholars and their accumulated talent in music, singing, recitations and pure entertainment combined to produce a very exceptional afternoon. Among our guests: Mr Wallace who gave the opening speech, Mr Andy Williams , Head of British Council, who presented the Diplomas, Mr Krzysztof Daniewski from Ivy Foundation and Paweł Łukasiak President of Academy of Philantropy, other friends of BAS and last but NOT least parents and relations of our scholars produced among them unforgettable ambience.
An unexpected but very special touch was also added: a letter to all present from Mr Bronisław Komorowski, President of Poland.
